THE FORKS, Maine (AP) - Police in Maine say speed and alcohol may have played a role in a crash that killed a 31-year-old man in The Forks.

Police say on Monday that Joel Bishop of Clinton, Maine, was the sole occupant of a vehicle that left the road at a high rate of speed and struck and snapped a utility pole. They say they aren’t sure exactly when the crash occurred.

Police say Bishop also was not wearing a seat belt. They’re still investigating the crash.
