ST. ALBANS, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont police department is investigating after two bodies were discovered in a St. Albans apartment with “obvious signs of violence and trauma.”

St. Albans police say officers checked the Lincoln Avenue apartment Sunday evening after receiving a request for a welfare check after relatives of a male who lived there had not been heard from in several days.

Officers who were given a key to the apartment found the two bodies.

St. Albans police are working with state police investigators and the Vermont State Police mobile crime unit is scheduled to arrive on Monday.

Police say there is no known threat to the public.

The investigation is continuing.
