POST FALLS, Idaho (AP) - A 23-year-old man died when the car he was traveling in shot off the road and struck a boulder in Post Falls, Idaho.

The Spokesman Review reports (https://bit.ly/2ywx3pd ) that Patrick Sparr and Derrick Starke, also 23, were driving in a black BMW heading east on Fourth Avenue at about 2 a.m. Friday.

The Idaho State Police says the vehicle was traveling at a “high rate of speed,” went off the right shoulder and struck a boulder.

Police say it wasn’t immediately clear who was driving the vehicle.

Sparr was pronounced dead on the scene. Starke was treated for minor injuries. Neither was wearing seat belts.

The investigation is ongoing.
