MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Police say no one was hurt when a motorist drove the wrong way on Interstate 89 in Vermont.

Police were alerted early Saturday in Montpelier that a pickup truck was traveling north in the southbound lanes between exists 6 and 8.

Police say 76-year-old Damien Deblois, of Alburgh, was arrested for negligent operation when he was stopped at Exit 9 in Middlesex. He’s due in court in late November.

His wife, Louisette, said Sunday that her husband took a wrong turn because of low visibility in fog.

She said her husband was going bow hunting on the first day of the season, and that he’s upset over his mistake. She said, “Thank God, he didn’t hit anybody.”
