The Christopher Columbus statue in New York City’s Central Park was found vandalized Tuesday morning, with the Italian explorer’s hands painted red and an ominous spray-painted hashtag: “#SomethingsComing.”

The 125-year-old statue near 65th St. Transverse and Center Drive was blocked off Tuesday, and crews cleaned up the vandalism, according to reports.

“Hate will not be tolerated,” was also spray-painted on the base of the statue.

Police said the vandalism is under investigation.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio last month announced a special commission on evaluating public monuments on city property amid national backlash over Confederate-era and other non-inclusive monuments.
