AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - An official who helps coordinate Austin events including the South by Southwest conference and festivals has been formally reprimanded over his treatment of some women who work with him.

The Austin American-Statesman reports an internal investigation found William Manno purposely avoided meetings and private interactions with some female co-workers because of issues with his marriage.

Manno, who’s a former Austin police commander, filed a grievance Wednesday saying many statements in the Aug. 10 written reprimand are based on misleading and incorrect information.

The city’s investigation of Manno, the Austin Center for Events program manager, began in July after a female co-worker, a business specialist, complained.

Manno declined comment to the Austin American-Statesman, which obtained some information through the Texas Public Information Act and reported details Thursday.
