LUMBERTON, Miss. (AP) - A Mississippi city has decided to not reappoint its police chief.

Lumberton Alderman Jonathan Griffith tells WDAM-TV , the board voted 5-0 to override Mayor Quincy Rogers’ previous veto to keep Police Chief Elsie Cowart in office. The vote came during a Tuesday night special called meeting. Griffith earlier said the board wanted to go with new leadership.

Cowart had held the post since 2012.
