BEND, Ore. (AP) - A former candidate for Deschutes County sheriff has been placed on paid administrative leave from his job as a deputy.

Bend television station KTVZ (https://bit.ly/2kae6Ck ) reports Eric Kozowski was put on leave last weekend because of an internal investigation involving several allegations.

KTVZ reports those include failure to take a report, not arresting a wanted suspect and making statements to the station about an investigation involving a lieutenant. Those statements were made last year, when the deputy tried and failed to defeat incumbent Sheriff Shane Nelson.

Kozowski’s attorney, Michael McGean, said the deputy denies any wrongdoing.

The sheriff’s office says it can’t discuss the case because it’s a personnel matter.
