BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A road resurfacing project on a southern Vermont highway is scheduled to resume next week, and drivers are warned to expect delays.

The Bennington Banner reports Peckham Road Corp, the construction firm managing the project on Route 9 in Bennington, released their proposed work schedule. The firm says crews will start widening shoulders on the highway next week, and grinding off the top road layer will start the week of April 23.

Project superintendent Bill Grant says the resurfacing will take an additional two to three weeks.

The project covers a total of 23.5 miles of state highway, some of which hasn’t been paved since 1999.

The Vermont Agency of Transportation lists the estimated cost of the project at $5.6 million.
