PORT HURON, Mich. (AP) - A Port Huron woman has been charged with second-degree murder in a crash that killed a Detroit-area woman.

The Times Herald of Port Huron reports that 35-year-old Theresa Gafken was arraigned via video Thursday.

Kristine Donahue of Chesterfield Township died April 11 in Port Huron after her vehicle was struck by a car fleeing police.

Police have said the car was traveling more than 100 mph during the pursuit. Gafken and three male passengers in the car were hospitalized.

Gafken asked a judge Thursday to release her from jail, saying she needs “time to rehabilitate” so she can prove her “innocence.”

The judge entered a not-guilty plea before denying bond.

A May 8 probable cause conference has been scheduled, followed by a May 15 preliminary examination.
