COSTA MESA, Calif. (AP) - The Los Angeles Chargers already feel like they’re ahead of the game as they head into the second day of the NFL draft.

The Bolts began with an unexpected surprise in the first round when Florida State safety Derwin James fell to them at the 17th overall pick Thursday.

With one position of need already filled, the Chargers can concentrate on adding talent at almost any position with the 48th and 84th overall picks Friday.

The Chargers still would like to add depth on their defensive line, particularly with Corey Liuget suspended for the first four games of next season for failing a doping test.

They’re also seeking depth on the offensive line and a playmaker at linebacker.
