TUMWATER, Wash. (AP) - A 35-year-old registered sex offender has been arrested and accused of raping a woman in Tumwater.

KOMO-TV reported Thursday that Logan Humphrey of Olympia was already in jail in connection with a 2017 rape when detectives uncovered evidence linking him to the January rape, police said.

Police reports say the 41-year-old victim was walking at about 5:30 p.m. Jan. 22 when a stranger grabbed her and pulled her into a wooded area.

Police say the suspect assaulted the woman and raped her.

After the attack, the suspect fled. The woman contacted police and was treated at a hospital.

About three days later, police arrested Humphrey in connection with a 2017 rape that happened in Tumwater, and prosecutors charged him with rape, kidnapping and assault with sexual motivation in that case.

Police are recommending additional charges of rape and kidnapping with sexual motivation in this case.
