DETROIT (AP) - A long-running festival celebrating the musical and ethnic diversity of Detroit has inspired a parallel party of sound about 65 miles west.

Organizers of the 26th annual Concert of Colors announced this week the multi-day, multi-venue event will run July 11-15. During the same period, the city of Jackson will hold its inaugural Jackson Unity Festival .

The events will share many of the same acts, including the Don Was Detroit All-Star Revue. It’s led by Was, a nationally renowned musician and producer with Detroit roots.

All performances are free and open to the public. The complete Concert of Colors lineup will be released later this spring.
