WEST POINT, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi authorities have released the identity of a man who was fatally shot in West Point over the weekend.

West Point Police Chief Avery Cook tells news outlets that 26-year-old Aaron Fenton was shot Sunday afternoon. Clay County Coroner Alvin Carter Jr. says Fenton was then taken to a hospital where he later died.

Cook says Fenton’s body is being sent to a crime lab and an autopsy will be performed. Authorities haven’t released any information on possible suspects, and Cook says investigators are working to determine a motive.
