BARTON, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities in central New York say a man who shot and killed his hunting partner has been charged with manslaughter.

The Press & Sun-Bulletin of Binghamton reports 53-year-old Dean Brockoff, of Lockwood, is scheduled to appear Tuesday in the Town of Barton Court on a charge of second-degree manslaughter.

Police say the shooting happened Sunday morning on private property in Barton in Tioga County. Authorities say the 73-year-old victim was rushed to Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pennsylvania where he later died.

The state Department of Environmental Conservation hasn’t released the victim’s identity.

An investigation continues.

It couldn’t immediately be learned from prosecutors if Brockoff has an attorney for his court appearance.
