SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) - Authorities have arrested a homeless man they say was living in a storage shed at a Southern California park where police also found a stolen gun and some 600 rounds of ammunition.

Police say 37-year-old Ruben Perez was arrested Monday night in Santa Ana after a softball team coach went to the equipment shed at Carl Thornton Park in Santa Ana and found that someone had broken in and was living there. The coach told police that the intruder warned he had a gun.

Police say Perez was arrested on suspicion of burglary and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

He remained jailed Tuesday and it was unclear whether he had an attorney.
