ARLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police say a 42-year-old woman whose death is considered suspicious told police last month that her boyfriend had threatened to kill her if she reported an alleged assault.

The Bennington Banner reports Karen Boonchuilier was found dead at her Arlington home Friday. Police say Boonchuilier told police in November that her boyfriend, 34-year-old Scott Topham, had thrown her and threatened to kill her with a knife.

Topham was charged last month with first-degree aggravated assault with a weapon and domestic assault charges. He is being held without bail pending trial. It wasn’t immediately known if he had a lawyer.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy. Authorities haven’t released a cause of death pending further analysis.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact state police.
