Jon Voight issued a holiday message over the weekend slamming the media’s “slanders and lies” about President Trump.

The Oscar-winning actor and outspoken Republican tweeted a video of himself Sunday saying he’s generally a happy person but can’t help but be bothered by people trying to “hurt” the president.

“I’m happy all the time actually,” Mr. Voight said. “Except there are things that bother me. Most especially what bothers me is people trying to hurt our president of the United States.

“He’s got a huge amount on his plate,” the “Ray Donovan” star continued. “He’s doing a good job every day. He’s doing such a good job every day. He’s doing amazing things, really, and the news is not representing it, and there are people who are trying to cook up slanders and lies to bring him down.

“This is our country. We’re Americans. We should support our president and be very, very happy that we have this man in the White House that is doing so much for our country,” he added. “Anyways, Merry Christmas.”

Mr. Voight, the father of actress Angelina Jolie and actor James Haven, has been a vocal supporter of Mr. Trump ever since he first endorsed him during the 2016 presidential campaign.
