Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin will once again captain the Metropolitan Division team in the 2019 NHL All-Star Game.
Ovechkin was the leading vote-getter among Metro players during the fan voting period, earning him the captaincy. He captained the Metro in last season’s contest.
Toronto’s Auston Matthews, Edmonton’s Connor McDavid and Colorado’s Nathan MacKinnon will captain the Atlantic, Pacific and Central Division teams, respectively.
The league will determine which players will fill out each roster. The Capitals could have several candidates to join Ovechkin on the Metro roster. Each team will consist of six forwards, three defensemen and two goalies.
All-Star Weekend will take place in San Jose, California, on Jan. 25 and 26.
