LAWRENCE, Mass. (AP) - Massachusetts police have charged a man they say grabbed an officer by the hair and slammed her head into an SUV while she responded to a disturbance.

The Eagle Tribune reports that 37-year-old Joel Perez-Perez was arraigned this week on multiple charges including assault and battery on a police officer.

Lawrence police say Officer Lissette Castillo and other officers responded to a call concerning a domestic disturbance at a party on Sunday. Police say Perez-Perez yelled at officers from a balcony before moving to the street and cursing at officers.

Authorities say Perez-Perez pulled Castillo by the hair and slammed her head into a vehicle as she was placing him under arrest. Another officer helped arrest Perez-Perez.

Castillo was treated for head injuries.
