GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) - Paris Kea scored 28 points to help North Carolina beat Boston College 69-64 in Wednesday’s first round of the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament.

Freshman Janelle Bailey added 16 points and 13 rebounds for the 12th-seeded Tar Heels (15-15), who snapped a nine-game losing streak. It was UNC’s first win since beating Duke in overtime on Jan. 21.

North Carolina led by a dozen with about 4½ minutes left, then held off a push by BC that twice brought the Eagles within three points late. Bailey hit two free throws with 14 seconds left to help the Tar Heels hold on, sending them into Thursday’s second round to face No. 23 North Carolina State.

Taylor Ortlepp scored 23 points and made seven 3-pointers for the 13th-seeded Eagles (7-23), who made 12 of 29 3s.
