ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Police in North Carolina say a man suspected of killing a woman has been taken into custody.

The Asheville Citizen-Times reports that police arrested 22-year-old Daniel Marquese Smith in Buncombe County on Wednesday.

An Asheville police Facebook post says he has been charged with armed robbery and first-degree murder in the death of Rhiannon M. Willetts.

According to arrest warrants, Smith is accused of robbing Willetts of her smartphone at gunpoint before killing her. Police say she was brought to Mission Hospital on Jan. 11 and pronounced dead as a result of a gunshot wound.
