NEW YORK (AP) - Attorney Michael Avenatti has an appointment to see two Honduran girls shipped to New York after being separated from their parents at the Mexican border.
He and a fellow attorney were headed on Wednesday afternoon to the Cayuga home for children in East Harlem where the 9-year-old and 5-year-old girls are now living.
The girls’ parents are being detained in Texas by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.
Under a federal court injunction, the government was ordered to reunite separated immigrant families by the end of July.
Avenatti represents adult film actress Stormy Daniels in legal actions involving Trump and has become the president’s outspoken public antagonist.
The attorney says Trump “has been holding children hostage in the name of politics.”
