ASHBURN — Redskins defensive end Stacy McGee has missed the last three weeks because of “an issue” that required groin surgery, coach Jay Gruden said Tuesday.

McGee did not practice in the team’s mandatory minicamp and missed the last two weeks of the voluntary sessions. Gruden did not specify how McGee suffered the injury, or when the defensive lineman had surgery.

McGee started 10 games for the Redskins last season — recording 44 tackles — and figured to be a rotational player in 2018.

The Redskins signed McGee to a five-year, $25 million contract in 2017 in free agency. McGee, a 2013 sixth-round pick, spent the first four years of his career with the Oakland Raiders.
