CHICAGO (AP) - The family of an 81-year-old Chicago woman whose body police say was found dismembered at her home is offering a $5,000 reward.

Chicago’s ABC7 TV reported Friday the reward is being offered for information leading to the person responsible. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the woman as Thana Muhammad.

Human remains were found in bins Sunday after a real estate agent who had been trying to reach the woman for days noticed a foul odor and called police. Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi has said someone put a lot of effort into a “horrific act.” Investigators also say they assume the woman was killed in her home.

Muhammad’s daughter, Ashanti Chimurenga, said her mother was “a good, kind, heroic woman.” She was a retired radiologist who lived alone.
