NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A police officer in South Carolina has been hurt during a chase for a fugitive.

A North Charleston officer was hurt after the suspect crashed into his vehicle during a chase Thursday night.

The U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force tried to stop a wanted man but he drove off and hit the officer’s patrol care on Interstate 526.

The suspect has been captured. His name has not been released and police have not said why he was wanted.

Police spokesman Spencer Pryor told news outlets the officer was taken to the Medical University of South Carolina Hospital in Charleston with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.
