SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) - A feisty alligator was found in the parking lot of a Publix in Florida.

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post on Monday that they found the small alligator in the parking lot of the Publix.

News outlets report that video shows the reptile was hiding under a boat trailer before deputies were able to hook it around the neck. The sheriff’s office says this is a reminder to look beneath trailers before backing up.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says alligators more than four feet in length that are considered a threat to people, pets or property are deemed nuisance alligators and will be slaughtered.
