NEW YORK (AP) - An eighth suspect has been arrested in the brutal stabbing of a teenager in the Bronx last week.

Police said Tuesday that 23-year-old Elvin Garcia faces murder and manslaughter charges. Information on his lawyer wasn’t immediately available.

Six suspects arrested in New Jersey have appeared in court and waived extradition. Police say they’ll be brought to New York City on Wednesday.

Fifteen-year-old Lesandro Guzman-Feliz was attacked by a group of men outside a bodega last Wednesday. He died after getting slashed in the neck with a machete.

Another suspect, 19-year-old Kevin Alvarez, has pleaded not guilty to murder, manslaughter and gang assault charges.

Guzman-Feliz’s death has sparked community-wide outrage. Thousands of mourners, including strangers, have attended his wake on Monday and Tuesday. A memorial outside the bodega continues to grow.
