BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (AP) - A central Illinois man arrested in Chicago has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the June 10 deaths of two people.

Hammet Brown of Bloomington is charged in the deaths of 20-year-old Taneshiea Brown and 18-year-old Steven Alexander Jr. and the wounding of Kenleia Sims and Tyree Jones.

Brown was arrested Tuesday and is scheduled to appear Wednesday in McLean County Circuit Court on murder and attempted murder charges.

McLean County State’s Attorney Jason Chambers said “the U.S. Marshal’s Service assisted in locating and apprehending” the 26-year-old Brown.

Authorities say Brown and Alexander were found outside a Bloomington apartment building where they were attending a party. Sims and Jones were transported to a local hospital, but their conditions have not been released.

The circumstances that led to the shootings haven’t been revealed by authorities.
