FAIRVIEW, Pa. (AP) - Three men were rescued by a passing boater after their boat sank in western Pennsylvania.

Authorities say the 20-foot fishing boat started taking on water shortly before 2 p.m. Tuesday. It soon became submerged about six miles northwest of the Walnut Creek Access Area in Fairview.

The men notified the Coast Guard, who sent a crew to the scene. But before they arrived, a passing boater and his wife spotted the three men signaling for help in the water and were able to get them safely in their boat.

The men were not injured. Their names have not been released.

Authorities are trying to determine why the boat took on water.
