LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) - Officials say two residents and two employees were hospitalized following a fire at a Florida senior living facility.

A Lakeland Fire Department news release says rescue workers responded shortly after noon Tuesday to the Lake Morton Plaza and encountered heavy black smoke on the roof of the 10-story building.

Fire crews began battling the blaze, as other firefighters worked to evacuate 128 residents and 30 employees. The fire was contained within 20 minutes, but smoke inhalation still posed a risk to occupants of lower floors.

Four people were taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution. Their injuries weren’t considered life-threatening.

Lakeland fire investigators determined that the accidental fire started in a roof-top electrical box.
