BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - North Dakota’s Game and Fish Department this weekend is taking part in a national effort to crack down on impaired boating.

The goal of Operation Dry Water from Friday through Sunday is to reduce the number of accidents and deaths associated with alcohol and drug use by boaters.

During the special enforcement weekend last year, North Dakota game wardens checked more than 3,900 boaters and issued 222 citations for various infractions.
