NASHUA, N.H. (AP) - Authorities have released the names of the three police officers involved in an incident in New Hampshire that led to the shooting of a 29-year-old man.

New Hampshire’s attorney general said Friday that Nashua officer James Ciulla discharged his gun and wounded Justin Contreras on Tuesday night. The Nashua resident was hospitalized and is believed to be in stable condition.

Officers Kyle Crosson and Guido Marchionda also were present, but did not fire their weapons. They were responding to the residence for a welfare check.

The incident remains under investigation. A preliminary report is expected on whether Ciulla’s use of force was justified once the investigation is completed.

The State Police Major Crime Unit is assisting in the investigation.
