PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - Police in Maine’s largest city say no one will be charged in the stabbing death of a 31-year-old man because the stabbing occurred in self-defense.
Anthony Best died as a result of the April 2016 stabbing, which took place during an altercation in a Portland parking lot. Police say a fight ensued in which Best was stabbed several times in the torso, and an investigation reveals that he was the aggressor in the incident.
Police say the circumstances surrounding the death have been thoroughly investigated by the police department and reviewed by state prosecutors. They say other parties involved in the incident will not be identified.
