MSNBC host Joe Scarborough issued a tweet thread on Thanksgiving Day giving thanks for Hillary Clinton and applauding her “grit” and “determination” that powered her through decades of public service.

Mr. Scarborough, a former Republican congressman who renounced the party last year due to his disdain for President Trump, tweeted several smiling photos of Mrs. Clinton to his 2.52 million followers, admiring her “passion to try and make the world a better place.”

Mr. Scarborough went on to defend the twice-failed presidential candidate from attacks by her former rival, President Trump, whose chants of “lock her up” dominated his 2016 campaign.

“Hillary deserves better,” he pleaded.

Mrs. Clinton didn’t return the love Thursday, tweeting only, “May we all open our hearts and reach across tables today. May we all find hopes and values in common. May there be pie. Happy Thanksgiving.”
