GREENWOOD, Miss. (AP) - A Mississippi hospital is ending a $700,000 contract with a Florida consulting firm.

Greenwood Leflore Hospital started the contract nine months ago with Healthcare Experience Foundation, also known as HXF. The firm has had a mandate to improve employee morale and patient experiences.

The Greenwood Commonwealth reports that the hospital board voted Tuesday to end the contract, although payments to the firm will continue for 90 days.

Leigh Ann Bradley, chief operating officer of HXF, says the firm has saved the hospital $21,000 during the past nine months, and savings of $1 million could be achieved in the next nine months.

The hospital’s interim CEO, Subho Basu, says some of the consulting firm’s claims of progress were “not convincing.”
