JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) - Jamestown police are searching for a suspect they believe to be armed and dangerous, and authorities have sent an alert to residents cautioning them not to confront the man.

Major Justin Blinsky tells KQDJ radio that an officer tried to stop and arrest 25 year-old Levi Guthmiller on outstanding felony warrants Wednesday evening, but Guthmiller evaded capture by striking the patrol car and speeding away. The vehicle later slid off the road and Guthmiller fled on foot.

A 21-year-old female passenger was detained for questioning, but Guthmiller was not immediately found.
