WILLIAMSBURG, Mass. (AP) - A Massachusetts man has been charged with assault and battery on a police officer after allegedly striking an officer with his vehicle and struggling during an arrest over the weekend.

The 19-year-old suspect faces arraignment Tuesday on several charges including drunken driving following his arrest Saturday night in Williamsburg.

Police say the officer was responding to reports of an erratic driver.

The suspect refused to get out of his car, backed up, moved forward and twice hit the officer.

The suspect struggled and at one point grabbed the officer’s radio and hit him in the face with it.

The suspect was subdued with help from a civilian and state police.

The officer was treated for minor injuries at the hospital and released.

No names were made public.
