HAWTHORNE, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a camera that a maintenance worker allegedly hid in an apartment complex unit had photos of the worker and his family.

The woman who lived in the unit at the Hawthorne Square complex found the camera in the ductwork. Hawthorne police then examined its memory card and determined it belonged to Oscar Martinez, a 52-year-old Hawthorne resident who has worked at the complex since it opened last year.

Martinez initially was arrested last month and charged with burglary, criminal mischief and invasion of privacy. But he was recently charged with criminal mischief and three more invasion of privacy counts after authorities found evidence that he allegedly had committed other undisclosed acts at the woman’s apartment.

It’s not known if Martinez has retained an attorney. A phone number for him could not be located.
