President Trump and comedian Bill Maher traded barbs on Twitter over the weekend after the president claimed the late-night television host made multiple false statements on his HBO show Friday.

“Got to see, by accident, wacko comedian Bill Maher’s show - So many lies,” Mr. Trump tweeted Saturday. “He said patients in El Paso hospital didn’t want to meet with me. Wrong! Had really great meetings with numerous patients. Said I was on vacation. Wrong! Long planned fix up of W.H., stay here rather than cause big disruption by going to Manhattan. Working almost all of the time, including evenings. Don’t have to be in W.H. to do that.

“And sooo many other false statements,” the president added. “He is right about one thing, though. I will win again in 2020. Otherwise, he pays 95% in taxes!”

Mr. Trump was apparently referring to a portion of Mr. Maher’s monologue Friday night in which he referenced a Washington Post report that said none of the eight victims of the El Paso mass shooting still hospitalized agreed to meet with the president, The Wrap reported. Mr. Maher also cited an Associated Press report that said the president would be leaving this Friday for his annual August vacation to his New Jersey golf club.

Mr. Maher, a longtime Democrat, responded to Mr. Trump’s tweets, declaring that he would cast a vote for the president’s reelection if he did “a total 180” on climate change.
