Actor Rainn Wilson responded Sunday to the mass shootings in Texas and Ohio by declaring that “the biggest threat” Americans face are “angry, white men with guns.”

“When are we all going to admit that the biggest threat to Americans, terrorist or not, is ANGRY, WHITE MEN with guns?” Mr. Wilson, best known for his role as Dwight Schrute on NBC’s “The Office,” tweeted to his 4.4 million followers Sunday afternoon.

The tweet came after a lone gunman killed nine people and injured 27 others in the popular Oregon District of Dayton, Ohio, early Sunday morning. Hours earlier, a gunman killed 20 people and injured 26 more at an El Paso Walmart in what authorities are investigating as domestic terrorism. Both alleged perpetrators were white.

“Oh people of the great city of El Paso, my heart breaks for you,” Mr. Wilson tweeted Saturday evening. “I can’t even imagine. America, WTF is wrong with us? Mass shootings a weekly event?! I’m speechless.”

“The metamorphosis of Jesus Christ from a humble servant of the abject poor to a symbol that stands for gun rights, prosperity theology, anti-science, limited government (that neglects the destitute) and fierce nationalism is truly the strangest transformation in human history,” the actor tweeted earlier Saturday.
