PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - Four anonymous donors are providing a Maine hospital with $1 million toward its plan to consolidate operations in the state’s largest city.

Northern Light Mercy Hospital received state regulatory approval earlier this year to consolidate its services and hospital operations at a campus on Fore River Parkway in Portland. Construction of the new campus is slated to begin next year and finish by 2022.

Northern Light says the anonymous donors have provided a one-to-one match up to $1 million for all gifts made to Mercy’s capital campaign through the end of March.

The hospital says it has raised more than three quarters of its $20 million goal for its capital campaign. Mercy president Charlie Therrien says the donation represents “a tremendous opportunity to double our contributions over the next four months.”
