CLEVELAND, Miss. (AP) - A new exhibit commemorates the participation of Chinese Americans from the Mississippi Delta in the U.S. space program.

Delta State University is hosting events in conjunction with the Mississippi Delta Chinese Heritage Museum.

People who took part in the space program are speaking, including Clarksdale resident Gilroy Chow, who was an engineer who helped build, test and check Apollo lunar modules. Also speaking will be Vance native Josephine Jue, who worked for 34-years for NASA as a mathematician and computer compiler.

Sunday activities include the exhibit opening and a dinner. Monday activities include lectures, a mini space camp for children ages 5-17 and a show at the university’s Wiley Planetarium.

The exhibit is open through July 30 and is free to the public.
