CNN commentator and “The View” fill-in Ana Navarro said Monday that Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign is giving her “Jeb Bush acid reflux.”

Ms. Navarro, who says she is Republican but not a conservative, made the quip on CNN’s “New Day” after a new CNN/Des Moines Register poll showed that Mr. Biden, the Democratic frontrunner, is losing his considerable lead among likely participants in the Iowa Democratic caucuses.

Biden’s best day was his campaign launch,” Ms. Navarro said. “I say this as somebody who really likes Joe Biden and would be very happy — skip and hop to the polls if I could vote for him in a general instead of Donald Trump.

“But right now, he is giving me Jeb Bush acid reflux,” she added. “I want to see him pull this together. He’s got time.”

Ms. Navarro, who supported Mr. Bush’s failed 2016 presidential bid, said the Democratic primary debates will be very important for Mr. Biden to show that he is the best candidate to beat President Trump.

Joe Biden can’t go out there on his cloud of Democratic love and string a harp,” she argued. “He’s got to go out there and prove that he can punch. Because people want to see electability, and they want to see, ‘Will he be able to punch at Donald Trump?’ “

Ms. Navarro also mocked the former vice president for tweeting out a photo over the weekend of his friendship bracelet with former President Barack Obama.

“I’ll tell ya what,” Ms. Navarro said. “Sending out a tweet with Obama’s my BFF friendship bracelets is not the way to hold on.”
