CROMWELL, Conn. (AP) - The superintendent of a Connecticut school district says disciplinary action has been taken in response to a video posted on social media that shows a student speaking to a person in blackface.

Cromwell Superintendent Thomas McDowell said Thursday that the district also will continue to promote diversity training in line with efforts that already were underway at schools this spring.

WFSB-TV reports the video involves a student in an “Uncle Sam” hat talking to someone in blackface.

McDowell said Cromwell takes pride in its diversity and the video does not represent the schools or the community.

McDowell said school officials became aware of the video on Wednesday.
