BELLEVUE, Neb. (AP) - A 34-year-old registered Nebraska sex offender has been accused of having a 13-year-old out-of-state girl transported across state lines to his home so he could sexually assault her.

Officials say Nicholas James Avery was booked Thursday night in Sarpy County Jail.

Omaha radio station KFAB reports that police sent to Avery’s Bellevue home Wednesday in search of the missing girl found her in his home. Avery was arrested and charged with first-degree child sexual assault and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The girl was taken back to her family.

Investigators say Avery met the girl through social media and paid to have her picked up by a driver and brought to his home. At the time, Avery was already serving a three-year probation sentence for a 2016 child enticement conviction.
