RENO, Nev. (AP) - The Latest on an officer-involved shooting in Reno (all times local):

3:50 p.m.

A veteran Reno police officer who was seriously wounded during an officer-involved shooting is reported in stable condition but there’s no word on the condition of the suspect who was shot.

Reno police initially said the officer suffered a potentially life-threatening injury to his head during the shooting Wednesday morning near an apartment complex on the south end of town.

Deputy Reno Police chief Tom Robinson told reporters he doesn’t know if the officer was shot or was injured in some other way. He also doesn’t know if the suspect was armed or fired any shots.

Sparks police said in a statement Wednesday afternoon the officer is in stable condition at a Reno hospital. The suspect who was shot is still being evaluated and his condition is unknown.

Robinson says the officer has been on the force for 10 to 15 years.

Reno police say an officer has been seriously wounded with injuries believed to be life-threatening in a shooting in which a suspect also was wounded.

Police say both the officer and suspect were transported to a hospital after the incident on a path behind an apartment complex Wednesday.

No identities or details about the injuries to the officer or suspect were released.

Police say they’re still sorting out the circumstances but say the officer encountered the suspect while investigating a report of a possible trespasser at a nearby restaurant.
