Scarlett Johansson says the Democratic Party can count on her influence to be used against President Trump during the 2020 election.

Marvel Studios’ “Black Widow” told The Hollywood Reporter for an interview published Wednesday that she has a specific mission next year: contributing to the electoral defeat of Mr. Trump.

The actress made the comment during a wide-ranging interview that covered everything from next May’s “Black Widow” film to her support for director Woody Allen in the #MeToo era.

“Democrats have said to me, ‘Oh, it’s really early to back someone,’” she told the magazine of her support for Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren. “That kind of worries me because it doesn’t feel that early to me. I’m like, ‘Really?’ It’s disconcerting that there’s not a clear candidate at this time.”

Ms. Johansson said the Democrat resonates with her because she is “thoughtful and progressive but realistic,”

“It’s not like her campaign is making these crazy, outlandish promises that seem impossible to reach,” the actress said. “There’s a strategy there. I’ll be there however I’m needed. If I can help with voter engagement, whether it’s doing some sort of PSA campaign or actively trying to involve people in the process of registering and voting. I really believe if people actually did vote, our government would look the way it’s supposed to, but people just don’t vote. It baffles me.”

Regarding her support for Mr. Allen and allegations of sexual abuse against him, the 2018 Women’s March attendee said, “I love Woody. I believe him, and I would work with him anytime. I see Woody whenever I can, and I have had a lot of conversations with him about it. I have been very direct with him, and he’s very direct with me. He maintains his innocence, and I believe him.”
