The Big Ten released a revised football schedule for 2020 on Wednesday morning, one where each team plays 10 conference teams and no nonconference opponents.

Maryland now will start its football season at Iowa on Sept. 5 and close at home against Minnesota on Nov. 21. See the whole schedule below (all game times TBD):

  • Sept. 5 at Iowa
  • Sept. 12 vs. Michigan State
  • Sept. 19 vs. Rutgers
  • Sept. 26 at Northwestern
  • Oct. 3 vs. Wisconsin
  • Oct. 17 at Penn State
  • Oct. 24 at Indiana
  • Oct. 31 vs. Ohio State
  • Nov. 7 at Michigan
  • Nov. 21 vs. Minnesota

The three conference teams the Terrapins won’t play are Nebraska, Illinois and Purdue, but they will face all six of their traditional divisional opponents.

The Big Ten’s decision to play a conference-only schedule due to concerns about COVID-19 protocols meant that Maryland had to scrap three games against nonconference opponents: Towson, an FCS rival from the Baltimore area, Northern Illinois and West Virginia.

Maryland is preparing to begin the season with no fans at games, in accordance with Prince George’s County restrictions on large gatherings of people. The program left the door open to the possibility that some fans might be allowed into the stadium later in the season.
