“The Daily Show” host Trevor Noah said the Democratic politicians who ignore their own coronavirus rules are worse than anti-mask Republicans “because of their hypocrisy.”

During his show Thursday night on Comedy Central, Mr. Noah played a CNN clip slamming several Democrats who were caught violating coronavirus restrictions.

Mr. Noah said, “Of course, until there is a vaccine, it’s more important than ever to follow social distancing guidelines. Now, the good news is that a lot of politicians have been speaking out very clearly about the need for us in the public to stay safe. The bad news is that these politicians haven’t all been practicing what they preach.”

On Nov. 6, California Gov. Gavin Newsom mingled without a mask with California Medical Association officials at a semi-indoors party at upscale French Laundry restaurant in Napa. He later called it a “bad mistake,” the same day he banned indoor dining in most counties.

On Nov. 7, one night after Mr. Newsom’s party, San Francisco Mayor London Breed attended a semi-indoors birthday party at the same restaurant, just three days before she banned indoor dining in her own city.

On Nov. 9, Austin Mayor Steve Adler attended his daughter’s wedding downtown and then filmed himself telling residents to “stay home” while vacationing in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. He later apologized for “confusing” residents.

And on Nov. 25, Denver Mayor Michael Hancock told residents to “avoid travel” 30 minutes before boarding a flight to visit his wife and daughter for Thanksgiving in Mississippi.

Mr. Noah slammed the politicians, all Democrats, for failing to walk the walk.

“Oh man, come on!” he said. “What is it with these Democrats?”

“Hey everybody, this is your mayor here telling you to say home and stay safe. Do the right thing. All my boys in the pool know what I’m talking about! Say what’s up everybody!” he said, mocking Mr. Adler.

“I’m sorry man, everyone has given up their lives and then you’ve got these politicians who are just hypocrites out here. What? You guys think corona respects your office too much to come after you? Because don’t forget, it got the president of the United States. It’s not going to be starstruck by Governor hair gel [Mr. Newsom],” he continued.

“Yeah, everyone expects them to be doing this,” he added. “The official Republican Party platform right now is just [coughing]. In fact, in a way these Democrats are even worse than the anti-maskers because of their hypocrisy — at least when those dudes break the rules they’re open about it.”
